This story relates to our lives as we strive to do our best, not just in sports, school but also relationships between friends...。南高县一把手的位置空半年了，上上下下都以为这把交椅非副县长刘超莫属，刘超自己也做好了大展宏图的思想准备，可忽然间从上边派来一个吴书田，人们都觉得此人来头不小。其实硕士研究生吴书田没什么背景，不过是在面对社会公开选拨公务员时考入省委机关，因不谙机关世事，同领导意见相左，被贬了下来。 这个书生气十足的吴书田却是个认真的人，尤其对本县已经司空见惯而熟视无睹的制假贩假活动，毫不妥协。这样一来便触动了以刘超为首的地方势力，他们以维持地方财政为名，凭借其经营多年的人事网络，给吴书田制造了一个又一个困难，他们为了掩盖罪行，撵走吴书田，夺回权利，不惜在吴书田与妻子虞雅之间挑拨事端，编造绯闻，甚至利用车祸杀人灭口。但改革开放毕竟是大势所趋，吴书田在农行女行长王宁、县委办公室主任赵亮等人的帮助下，终于战胜了盘根错节的地方势力，使南高县的工作走上了改革开放、健康发展的轨道...。
