SYNOPSIS Urgently called, the police inspector has arrived in a hotel, and didn't find any crime, but noticed some strangenesses occurring there. (Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。一次偶然中，普通少女桃子（小林晃子 配音）与黑猫丹尼尔（清水爱 配音）相遇了。昏倒的桃子醒来后发现自己通身雪白，丹尼尔告诉她，她已经成为了能够掌管他人生死的死神。于是，桃子手持镰刀，和丹尼尔一起，开始了她身为死神的第一天。虽然成为了死神，可是桃子的本性依旧是一个天真烂漫的少女，在处理事件的时候，她总是忍不住的要为了当事人的悲伤经历而伤心落泪。在完成工作的过程中，看着当事人或是满足或是遗憾的离开人世，本来懵懂的桃子也渐渐的找到了生命存在的意义。 动画改编自作家长谷川启介的同名轻小说，用科幻的方式真实的呈现出人间的种种悲欢离合。因其独特的忧伤的文风，小说和动画在观众群中有着极高的人气。。
