本剧讲述了民国初年一位歌女的坎坷遭遇。歌女明月自小跟随师傅、师母以卖唱为生。师傅垂涎她的美色,师母又经常将她虐待。后来,在手车夫的协助下,她逃离了师傅、师母的魔掌,还认识了一位梨园前辈,跟随学艺,不久便在歌坛走红。这时,她爱上了一名富家子弟,不惜为他放弃事业,离开歌坛,与他同居。可惜富家子弟并未对他付出真心,狠心的抛弃了她。饱受挫折的明月只好复出歌坛。在明月感情遭受打击时,手车夫的出现重新唤起了她心中的爱情,可惜这纯真的爱情又屡遭阻拦...。任剑飞自小丧父,母亲全靠亡夫之弟任坤帮助,始能维持生计。坤疼爱侄儿飞,处处呵护备至。飞自小热爱唱歌,坤为完飞之歌星梦,暗中动用毕生积蓄助飞灌录唱片,坤更在自己工作的唱片店为飞宣传。坤更因此而被开除。一天,飞应征酒廊歌手,但此职位已被样子甜美的白咏仙夺得,飞对白一见钟情,甘愿在酒廊当侍应。后来,酒廊经理知悉飞歌喉不俗,便请飞在酒廊试唱。飞初试啼声失准,又与调戏白的酒客龃龉,飞差点与酒客大打出手。幸得坤及时赶到调停,坤更暗中帮助飞继续留在酒廊表演。然而,飞对坤有所误会,处处与坤作对。更在母亲生日饭餐中,当众辱骂坤,使坤十分难堪。幸得母亲狠狠地教训一顿,飞始知错怪了坤。最后,飞向坤道歉,两叔侄和好如初。。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。
