His overbearing mother, Rebecca, is an accomplished author who is focused on her latest book r...。泥鳅（倪萍 饰）与丈夫离婚后带着一对双胞胎女儿来到北京，本想投靠朋友，可朋友的处境也不太好。于是泥鳅决定自力更生，她多次遇到了在火车上要求与她发生关系的包工头，没想到两人都叫泥鳅。 男泥鳅（倪大红 饰）也是个背井离乡的人，妻子逝世了。他把女泥鳅留下，虽然吃住不是很好，但起码有个落脚的地方，离乡在外困难众多，大家也互相照应。 为了生活女泥鳅去当女佣，这时男泥鳅欠下了工人的工钱，她也提出帮他还债，就这样，他们互相挣扎在北京生活，做着粗活，养活自己与女儿。 但生活并不是那么简单，他们需要面临的还有很多……。
