Jointly produced by Saif Ali Khan, Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla under the banner of Eros International, Maddock Films and Illuminati Films, it is the debut directorial venture of Arif Ali, who was the assistant writer of the film Aahista Aahista, written by his brother Imtiaz Ali. The film has music scored by A. R. Rahman. The film was released on 4 July 2014。1941年冬，南粤边区抗日游击队的队员陈瑞声接到了一项特殊任务――带领队员护送一个年轻的姑娘李冰儿去指定地点。他们一路上意外地遇到了鬼子的多次偷袭，原来鬼子也在追踪李冰儿，并有叛徒出卖了行走路线。最后队员们纷纷牺牲，只剩陈和李两人。到了制定地点，陈发现接应的李冰儿母亲已被鬼子杀害，原来她们是一个国民党将军的家属。他痛恨国民党顽固派对游击队的凶残，对队员们为护送其家属而做出如此的牺牲非常愤怒不解，但还是根据线索将她送到了安全地点。两人在相处的过程中已经相互产生了爱意，最终李冰儿决定跟随陈瑞声一起参加战斗。。
