Virgil knows another way to go, ...。1937年，七七事变爆发，揭开了中华民族全民抗战的大幕。日本侵略者的暴虐淫威彻底激发了全国军民的抗日热情，当此民族存亡的危难关头，五台山地区广大僧众在晋察冀八路军的领导下成立了和尚连，和日本侵略者展开了浴血奋战地抗争。八年抗战中，五台山僧人参加抗日1000余人，和尚连人员在战斗中伤亡极为惨重。抗战结束，和尚连生还的人员当中，有的脱掉军装又投入佛门，有的带着恋人奔赴解放前线。五台山僧众投身抗日战争保家卫国的精神，为我国波澜壮阔的抗战历史，添加了浓墨重彩的一笔。。
