本剧改编自富樫伦太郎的小说，讲述了曾在杉并中央署“事事商谈室”工作的冬彦和寅三现在所属的警视厅特命对答室第5系，只负责精英集团的杂务，也就是所谓的落后部门。警察是Z世代的备品系系美雪，不靠谱的系长山花，而且因为冬彦他们被称为“零系”…。在这样的情况下，有人找冬彦证明自己的清白。咨询者·希久子主张的是2年前在金泽发生的杀人事件。不久后，其子公麻吕企图自杀，被害者玲佳控告其为跟踪狂，因此在未开庭审理的情况下将其列为杀人犯。冬彦迅速浏览了公麻吕的日记，有所触动，突然“去金泽”，擅自开始了被禁止的搜查。。Trevor is 'between jobs'.
